RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR PLACES AT PORTFIELD

A rare opportunity has presented itself for Portfield School to accept additional students at this time. We will take students at any age, including 16, at any point in their educational career.

Below is a step by step guide to our referral process;

STEP 1 - Referral

Referral papers from the Local Authority are received by us and acknowledged in writing. These are then reviewed and discussed by senior managers, during which time visits to the school for parents and professionals are welcomed and encouraged.

STEP 2 - Assessment

Arrangements will be made for a full pre-placement assessment of the child's educational and (where appropriate) residential support needs to be completed within 2 working weeks of the authority receiving the initial response. Such an assessment may take place in the child's school, at the child's home or by the child visiting Portfield School.

STEP 3 - Contract

Upon confirmation that the offered place is required, then a formal contract is issued by Portfield School. The contract is posted to the local authority along with a Care Plan for the student concerned.

STEP 4 - Admissions

In receipt of the signed contracts the transition process begins and this will be managed by a senior manager of the local authority to ensure that the move is planned, managed and in the best interest of the student. No student will be admitted to Portfield School unless the local authority has returned the signed contract.
