NEW RESIDENTIAL HOME ACQUIRED

The Society has acquired a new residential home in Manor Road, Christchurch which provides a residential care service to four adults. Having recently hosted a very successful Recruitment Day the Society is delighted to have appointed key members of part-time and full-time staff to create a new team.

Simon Kelly McGee, an existing Deputy Manager with the Society at Broadwindsor, has been appointed as the Manager of Manor Road and takes up post from 1st July. Simon held a Recruitment day recently and is now appointing the key staff who will form the basis of the new care team at the home.

Jon Wyatt, Director of Social Care Services and overseeing the project comments; “We have already received three referrals and hope to open in September. We are currently carrying out extensive building works to ensure the property is fit for purpose, and are registering the service with the Care Quality Commission. We are encouraged that all the processes are going well and we will create a considered and comfortable home for our residents. The proximity of this accommodation to Portfield School has proved a strong selling point and we are in an excellent position to offer robust and individualised care for each resident as they make the transition from education.”

The Society is keen that Manor Road will be a ‘Home for Life’ for its residents and provide an environment which allows each individual to maximise their potential. The Wessex Autistic Society has residential homes across the county with properties in Christchurch, Crewkerne and Beaminster.
