TEACHERS' TREKKING TRIUMPH

Four intrepid teachers from Portfield School donned their walking boots and trekked 26 miles along the Cerne Valley Trail in the blistering heat recently, all in the name of charity. Frankie Keats, a Teacher at the school, Andrea Mayo, Jennie Chapman and Kathryn Lewis all Teaching Assistants, work full time at Portfield.

So far the fit foursome have raised over £800 but hope to raise even more through corporate sponsorship and community members who are willing to continue making donations. To donate online please visit www.justgiving.com/portfield

Setting off at 5.30am the energetic foursome walked for 12 hours on one of the hottest days of the year along The Cerne Valley Trail taking in the hamlets and villages of Minterne Magna, Cerne Abbas, Nether Cerne, Gogmanston, Forston and Charminster.

Head Teacher of Portfield School, Janis Rogers comments; "The dedication of our staff never ceases to amaze me. We are extremely lucky to have such a hard working team that is prepared to give up days and weeks of their spare time to train for this expedition to raise funds for the charity. We support them all the way and encourage the local community to get behind them and donate what they can. Every penny raised will go directly to the library fund.”
