Specialist Support Team
In addition to the teaching and residential staff is our specialist support team who work together to develop receptive and expressive skills, respond to behavioural, health and medical needs as well as helping students to regulate their sensory input.
Comprising of a Nurse, Speech and Language Therapists, and Occupational, Behaviour and Alternative Therapists, the specialist support team inform ways of working with individual students which enable staff to effectively support students to make positive progresses in both their educational and personal development.
In an OFSTED inspection of the Residential Services in February 2011, the Specialist Support team were found to provide “outstanding support and students continue to make significant positive developments in relation to their behaviour.”
They are supported by our dietician, paediatrician, psychiatrist and community health professionals, which combined makes Portfield a unique and highly successful school.
