About us...

Who We Are

Formed in 1968, The Wessex Autistic Society is a leading voluntary organisation delivering education, support and care services for people on the autistic spectrum. We operate services in Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset, and outreach to anyone else who may need us, regardless of where they may be.

What We Do

Our help is varied and far reaching. Our information and advice line helps those who need more knowledge on autism and diagnosis; we assist anyone requiring suitable supported living, and offer help for adults gaining employment. We run drop in sessions for those wishing to talk about their issues, as well as providing specialist education, boarding and lodging for children, and respite for families, all within modern purpose built facilities.

What We Believe In

  • Providing services tailored to individuals’ needs.
  • Co-operating with outside agencies and authorities to arrange the best care possible.
  • Supporting carers and professionals with up to date training and information on best practice approaches to assisting those living with Autism.
  • Advocacy to bring about positive change for people with Autism.
